Definition of Opportunity
|
Put simply Public Sector Contracts are a massive, stable & attractive ongoing source of business.
- The value of UK Government procurement exceeds £100 Billion each year
- An enormously diverse range of goods & services are required
- Excellent customers: fair, stable and pay on time
- It is considered desirable that contractors make a reasonable level of profit as it ensures they will still be in business
to finish the contract and be healthy enough to compete for the next one
- Positive steps are being taken by Government to encourage SMEs to bid
The sheer magnitude and quality of this ongoing opportunity is such that every SME should very seriously consider participation.

A problematic process for SMEs?
|
Many SMEs will have 'dipped a toe in the water' but will have been put
off further tendering because of:
- Initial failures for unknown reasons
- A perception of an unfathomably complex process
- The time-consuming burden of lots of red tape and bureaucracy for no obvious return
- Business leader concluding that the company is too small to be able to accomodate the scope and scale
of typical contracts
It is true that the paperwork can be daunting initially but it is the same for all bidders. The objective is
to create a level playing field dedicated to identifying the best suppliers and obtaining the best value for taxpayers' money.

The ICFBA is an international community of over 260 professional business and training consultants who, working as Accredited
Partners (APs) actively seek to provide tendering support services to our client base. The ICFBA's
APs have developed proven tendering support & improvement processes through shared best practice. We also maintain
a permanent, in-house team whose task it is to search for relevant opportunities to tender for public sector contracts; predominantly issued within the
UK and Western Europe. Approximately 100 opportunities are presented to the APs for consideration each week. Small SMEs
are not excluded. ICFBA APs work with you in your companies to build a consortium, typically of 4-5 SMEs offering similar
or complementary products/services. Your AP will then request, collate and package all of the information required into a PQQ
or Tender response document. The AP takes the hands-on central coordination and driving role in the tendering process,
leaving the business owner(s) to focus on business. Our process is not
a quick fix. It requires commitment to the process, patience and possibly some investment in strengthening the weaker areas
of your business... but it does work. Dozens of client companies
have in total won many millions of pounds worth of publicly-tendered business over the last five years.
Locally
and nationally, Government wants more SMEs to:
- Participate
in public sector tendering
- Work to become strong, credible
suppliers
- Reap the reward by winning contracts
